介紹了林肯的生平事蹟及對後世的影響。
期刊中引述一段林肯的軼事,我看了當下很感動,和大家分享:
在某個升旗典禮中,林肯的演說只有短短幾句:
「我現在的任務就是這面國旗升起來,
如果這套裝置沒問題的話,我一定不辱使命;
但一旦國旗升起來後,
就要靠全體人民來維護它,讓它永遠不落!」

是什麼讓我當下看了很感動?
我不確定…
也許是信任吧,
對所有人民的信任,對信念和理想的信任…

下面是被譽為史上最偉大演說之一的蓋茨堡演說:

ADDRESS AT GETTYSBURG
Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate-we cannot consecrate-we cannot hallow-this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or to detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us-that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion; that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom; and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
聽說因為當時林肯的致詞出乎意料的精簡,
所以連攝影師們都來不及拍(古早時代拍照可是很麻煩滴~),
這是現知世上唯一一張蓋茨堡演說的照片~
林先生(喂~)的就在那一堆密密麻麻的人頭之中
